Making the Right (Tough) Decisions

How many decisions do we make a day?   How many of them are the right decisions?  How many of them are really tough decisions?

We all face these questions and some of us react immediately, some of us take a little time and others delay.   Effective leaders will use a bit of each depending on the challenge faced.

Fact finding and reviewing all the facts without emotions being involved is my personal challenge.   Instincts and gut feelings kick in and then it's convincing the emotional side this is the right decision.

Sticking to core values of honesty, integrity and taking the "high road" in certain situations have been principles guiding my decisions.   Yes sometimes they are incorrect decisions and react quickly to correct.   Is anyone Perfect out there?

Enjoying all the positive and good things we face in a day with the balance of dealing with challenges.   It would be a bit too boring otherwise!

  1. Yes - decisions can be tough. It is what you learn from the ones you think were 'wrong' - they may not have been 'wrong' until you looked back at them. At the time the most likely made sense. I don't think we ever set out to make the wrong decision. Think about it this way - in a single day we average 8,746 choices/decisions...making sure they count and that we make them is what we are required to do as leaders. How we learn and teach others, follows.
